Privacy Settings

Manage how personal data is handled in Starred and stay compliant with privacy regulations.

In your Privacy Settings, you can:
  • Add a custom privacy statement

  • Set a data retention period

  • Manually delete respondent data

Privacy Statement

Your privacy statement explains why you collect feedback and how data is used.

  • Displayed at the bottom of every survey

  • You can link to your policy or paste the full text

  • Replaces Starred’s default statement

💡 Tip: Align it with your legal and data retention policies.

Data Retention

Control how long personal data is stored.

  • After the set period, data is automatically anonymized

  • Removed: first name, last name, email

  • Kept: ratings, comments, response totals

Important: Anonymization is permanent and cannot be undone.

  • Custom fields: choose whether to keep custom fields after anonymization. If you choose to delete them, you can still filter and analyze old feedback.

If you choose to keep them:

  • Fields must not contain personal data (e.g., IDs, phone numbers, locations) to ensure anonymity.

You are responsible for ensuring compliance.

Manually Delete Respondent Data

You can permanently delete a respondent’s data upon request.

This removes:

  • Name and email

  • All ratings and comments

  • All custom fields

⚠️ Warning: Deletion is irreversible and affects reports and dashboards.
