Survey Sender Address

The Sender Addresses feature lets you create alias email addresses to use as the sender for your survey invitations.

In this article, you'll learn:

- Why you should create a Sender Address for your surveys

- Who can create Sender Addresses

- How to create Sender Addresses

- Requirements and Best Practices

The Sender Addresses feature lets you create alias email addresses to use as the sender for your survey invitations. This makes it easy to send surveys from a branded, professional-looking address such as recruitment@yourcompany.com or feedback@yourcompany.com.

Only Admins can create Sender Addresses.

Why Using a Sender Address

Alias sender addresses offer several benefits:

  • You don’t need to create a new user in Starred for every sender.
  • Alias addresses don’t need to exist or have an inbox – you can create them directly in Starred.
  • They are quick to edit or replace, for example, changing talent@starred.com to recruiting@starred.com.
  • You can assign different aliases to match different communication types or teams (for example, HR vs. Recruitment).
  • They ensure that you'll continue sending surveys as the sender address isn't tied to a specific user, which could be removed

How to Create a Sender Address

Follow these steps to add a new alias Sender Address:

  1. Contact Starred Support to add your preferred email domain (for example, @yourcompany.com) to your account.
  2. Go to Company Settings → Sender addresses.
  3. Click Create new sender.
  4. Enter:
    • Name (this will appear as the sender name in the email).
    • The Email address you want to use.
  5. (Optional) Enable:

    - Firefight notifications (alerts for low NPS scores)
    - Feedback notifications (when feedback is received)

  6. Click Save to complete setup.
  7. You’ll then be prompted to upload a logo for your sender (see below).

Recommended size: at least 150 × 150 pixels
    • Use a square image to avoid cropping issues
    • If you want to use your company logo, ensure it’s square-shaped (Starred does not automatically resize it like your main company profile image).

✅ Best Practices

Notifications

Only enable firefight or regular notifications if the address is a real inbox and actively monitored.

Logo

  • Use a different logo than the one chosen for your company profile, as they'll both be displayed in the survey invitation.
  • Use a square image to avoid cropping issues
  • If you want to use your company logo, ensure it’s square-shaped (Starred does not automatically resize it like your main company profile image).
  • Recommended size: at least 150 × 150 pixels

Survey sender FAQs

Why don't I have the option to change the sender of the survey in the invitation composer?

This is because your user profile does not have the necessary permissions. To choose the survey sender from the invitations composer, you need the access rights "Can send invitations" and "Can edit company details". 📘 Learn more about user access rights →

Why is the invitation email sent from Starred instead of my company domain?

By default, Starred sends invitation emails from feedback@invites.starred.com, unless you have configured a custom sending domain.

Custom sending domains are an add-on feature to your license, which you can discuss with your Customer Success Manager.

I created a sender address, but the surveys are still being sent from Starred's domain.

The sender address feature is just an alias, so it doesn't change the actual "from" email address. To change that, you need a custom sending domain.

Custom sending domains are an add-on feature to your license, which you can discuss with your Customer Success Manager.
